4 day HSE Accredited First Aid at Work Course which provides a recognised qualification in First Aid and meets the requirements set out by the HSE in respect of the HSE First Aid Regulations 1981. This qualification is valid for three years.
- First Aid at Work Refresher
2-day re-qualification course for holders of the 4-day First Aid at Work Certificate. This qualification revalidates the 4 day First Aid at Work Qualification for a further 3 years
- Emergency First Aid Appointed Person ½ day
This is a basic emergency first aid which aims to provide members of your staff with the skill and knowledge to deliver effectively emergency first aid until more qualified staff are available. This course can be tailored to the specific industry of the client. E.g. Construction industry, GP surgery, retail premises etc.
- Defibrillation training (Refresher or Introduction) 3 hour
This course is designed for staff who already have first aid skills and are equipped with an AED in the workplace, or to refresh previous training. This course will enable the individual to safely use an AED in an emergency situation and provide a refresher in Basic Life Support Skills
- Defibrillation and CPR Automatic External Defibrillation (AED) Training Course (1 day)
The course aims to ensure that all members of staff can identify and deal with medical emergencies within the workplace and safely use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
The course will include dealing with unconscious casualties, dealing with airway obstruction and respiratory and circulatory arrest, as well as other emergency or traumatic situations
Participants will have the opportunity to practice Basic Life Support and the use of resuscitation equipment.
The course will cover the following
- Potential Hazards
- Care of unconscious casualty
- Airway obstruction
- Basic Life Support theory and practice
- Basic understanding of heart and conduction system
- Basic cardiac arrhythmias & VF
- Safe use of AED
- Maintaining AED and record keeping

The session is delivered in accordance with the Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines for Basic Life Support and AED use.
The training AED unit will be a Philips Heart Start unit and candidates will have ample opportunity to practice simulated emergencies and use of the unit on the resuscitation mannequin.
This course can be certificated as an HSE accredited Appointed Person – Emergency First Aid Course including AED if the client wishes as the course will include the basics of Emergency First Aid.
The first aid element of this course can be further adapted to suit client needs where candidates already have an existing knowledge or current qualification in basic first aid. ie candidates from a Construction background may wish to refresh on subjects such as falls, fractures, spinal injuries crush & burns injuries.
Similarly clients working in hostile environments / rescue incidents may wish to refresh on areas such as entrapment, confined spaces, blast injuries, gunshot injuries, suspension trauma, extremes of temperature etc
Please note these subjects will be covered on a basic first aid level on this course. More comprehensive training on these subjects is also available.

Basic Life Support – 3 hours
Including: explanation of Cardiac Arrest, patient assessment, safety during CPR, demonstration of CPR Procedures (New 2005 ERC Guidelines), candidate practice on CPR mannequins, use of CPR accessories ie. Face mask, pocket mask, bag valve mask. PowerPoint and DVD presentations.
- Emergency First Aid ½ day
This is the most basic of the first aid courses and will cover CPR, Unconscious casualty and dealing with choking, bleeding and burns and some common emergencies or those specified by the client as time allows.
Emergency First Aid 1 day
This course aims to provide members of your staff with the skill and knowledge to deliver effectively emergency first aid were a full 4 day course is not required. This course can be tailored to focus on and cover in more detail, incidents related to a specific industry. Please see some of our specifically developed courses below. The course will always include CPR, Unconscious Casualty, Bleeding, Choking and Burns as well as a full range of common medical emergencies.
- Emergency First Aid in Construction 1 day
Includes emergency first aid procedures and common site emergencies e.g crush injury, fall from height, spinal & pelvic injuries, burns, electrical injuries
- Emergency First Aid in Children 1day
Developed for staff working with children and babies. Includes general first aid for children, paediatric CPR skills, choking procedures, trauma, shock, acute medical emergencies including croup, febrile convulsion, epiglotitis.
- Emergency First Aid For Drivers 1day
Includes general emergency first aid with special focus on Road Traffic Accidents, scene safety and management, entrapment, spinal injuries, removal of crash helmets.
- Emergency First Aid for Carers 1 day
Includes emergency first aid procedures with particular focus on incidents common in a care environment. Includes Stroke, Heart Attack, Heart failure, Obstructive Airways Conditions, Angina, Airway obstruction, falls, fractures and spinal injuries.
- Emergency First Aid for Door Staff 1 day
Includes emergency first aid procedures with extra focus on common incidents in licensed premises including bleeding, falls, fractures, penetrating injuries, head injury, drugs, effects of alcohol, epilepsy, diabetes, hyperventilation, asthma |
