IHCD First Person on Scene (Intermediate) course

Are you a first responder, designated first aider, event steward, ambulance care assistant? Why not upgrade your skills and qualification to an FPOS Intermediate Award? Are you a company looking to train a number of your staff in a highly respected and well recognised first aid qualification?

What is the FPOS?
The FPOS-I award is accredited by Edexcel and IHCD and endorsed by the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh, the UKs leading body in Pre-hospital care. It has been specifically designed and developed to meet the needs of today’s society and the learners of today, and to meet the needs of the emergency care sector. Several frontline providers including NHS trusts are now using FPOS Intermediate as a recognised and suitable award for their intermediate level personnel e.g. EMT, ECA & UCA. The award is widely used by private and NHS ambulance services, fire and rescue services, government departments and community first responder schemes throughout the UK today. It is internationally recognised and also recognised by the Security Industry Authority as a suitable medical qualification for Close Protection Operatives.

How is it delivered?

  • The award is delivered over 5 days
  • part classroom based
  • part scenario based
  • ongoing practical assessments over the 5 days
  • formal end exam, practical assessments and team rescue on the last day.

Who delivers it?
Our course is delivered and assessed by registered and skilled paramedics who can incorporate a touch of real life to the content and scenarios. It covers all aspects of first aid normally covered in an HSE First Aid at work course, and incorporates extra skills such as removing crash helmets, immobilisation, medical and trauma emergencies, assisting the paramedic, extrication of the trapped patient and using oxygen, suction equipment and AED’s. All optional practical units available are automatically included in the course assessments so that the candidate gains the maximum achievable units from the course.

We can enhance the course content to suit the candidates needs including FPOS for Hostile Environments, FPOS for Construction, Ambulance Service FPOS, FPOS in Childcare

First Bike on Scene (FBoS)

Every biker should know how to properly deal with a motorcycling accident. We are currently working on bringing the above award to our customers. Aimed at motorcyclists, it teaches emergency, life saving procedures, designed  to improve the outcome in a motorcycle collision. Delivered by paramedics, the course is approved and certificated by The Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh, the UK leading body in emergency care.

FBoS

Minimum Entry Requirements:
16+ years of age.

Duration:
One Day.

Class Size:
Student / Instructor ratio of 12:1.

Who delivers it?
Paramedic Instructor.

Where is it delivered?
Our trainers can travel to your venue or bike club premises.

Course Content
1. Understand Trauma and the mechanism of injury.

2. Understand how to protect the scene and snatch rescue.

3. Demonstrate Basic Life Support.

4. Understand the correct procedures for spinal management.

5. Demonstrate the correct procedure for removing a crash helmet.

Our new training centre is based in East Kilbride close to all amenities and main travel routes.


As a newly built facility it is bright modern and creates a relaxed and positive learning environment. Parking is free and refreshments are available from the centre cafe.

FPOS Intermediate Course, 23rd to 27th May 2012 at our East Kilbride training venue

  • Course cost £350 (no vat applicable). Our course includes instruction in advanced skills to further your knowledge and understanding of emergency life saving procedures. We can also include an HSE First Aid at Work Qualification for candidates who need this for HSE FAW workplace compliance.
     
  • All of our candidates can return (by arrangement) on future courses to refresh, update or practice their responder skills.
